Food and Water Security

South Sudan is the world’s newest country having gained independence from Sudan in September 2011, but it didn’t come easily. The country is taunted by ongoing civil conflict and religious persecution as more than 1 million nationals reside as refugees or internally displaced people.

Due to the absence of infrastructure and basic life necessities, local people cannot find healthy, non-contaminated water to drink and are struggling to cultivate the land for a reliable supply of food. Without access to vocational training or employment, many are left vulnerable to crime and radicalisation.

Key Areas of Expenditure:

  • Food security through goat herds
  • Grazing land
  • Agribusiness tools
  • Water testing resources
  • Filters and well infrastructure
