School Project

In the Tobasa region of Indonesia, educational biases and inequalities take many forms. Teachers arrive hours late; students with learning difficulties are harshly treated; poor families cannot afford adequate nutrition; religious favoritism weighs upon academic results; and children are denied access to education if they cannot afford the mandatory books and uniform.

In response, a new school has been established to provide international standards of education without any partiality to gender, religion or intellectual ability. Teachers have been specifically trained to work in rural areas and ongoing training is available to them for their continual professional development. Gifted children are encouraged to take extended after-school tuition and a cross-cultural exchange program will see visiting teaching staff from their Australian sister school.
