Clean Water Projects
Myanmar
Unimproved water sources in Myanmar compromise hygiene, sanitation and drinking water availability. Unfiltered rivers and swamps are contaminated by human and animal waste, chemical pollutants and heavy metals which can quite often be fixed by simple low-technology solutions.
To prevent such risks, a team of water specialists travel to the country’s rural villages and teach locals how to construct sand filtration units. The process involves:
- Community needs analysis
- On-site construction of brick and cement stand
- Implementation of filtration unit
- Training in maintenance of unit and water quality checks
- Follow-up water testing
Key Areas of Expenditure:
- Equipment purchases
- Construction of filtration unit
- Transport
- Training costs
