Arid and semi-arid pockets of Kenya are largely cut off from public services due to poor roads, dysfunctional railways and under utilised water transport. Isolation leaves farmers watching their food rot as they cannot access markets. Violence and discrimination against women are embedded in cultural norms and an ineffective police force. Since the turn of the century, life expectancy has slipped backwards as diseases of poverty are rife, malnutrition is a constant threat and medical clinics are few and far between.
Amidst these struggles, many lives have been saved and communities assisted owing to the invaluable work of our aviation partner which provides air transport services to remote regions of Kenya. They facilitate development and emergency relief through the delivery of resources and personnel where ground travel is not viable due to compromised safety, reliability or speed.
Having the luxury of air travel enables more regular access to a greater sphere of influence. This in turn permits a wide range of beneficiary agencies to monitor their activities and make more informed decisions. Some key services involved in this project include:
- Medevacs/ medical supply deliveries
- NGO transport needs for staff and equipment
- Government staff travel
- Aerial searches
- Natural Disaster response
- Local training
Key Areas of Expenditure:
- Staff training
- Aircraft maintenance
- Resource provision
